What is Endoscopy?

Endoscopy is a procedure that uses a thin, flexible tube equipped with a light and camera- called an endoscope- to directly examine the patient’s digestive tract. This test can be used to diagnose stomach problems, gastritis, bleeding, colon polyps, and much more. Endoscopy is also used to perform certain procedures, such as controlling gastrointestinal bleeding, removing polyps and other growths, and taking biopsies or samples.
