Rebecca E. Rawl, MD, MPH

Dr. Rawl joined Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology in 2016 after completing her fellowship in gastroenterology at Carolinas Medical Center. Her professional interests include inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer prevention. It is important to Dr. Rawl that her patients receive compassionate care and feel heard. She works with her patients to help them understand their condition and collaborates with them toward an acceptable treatment plan that fits their unique healthcare needs.

She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).

While working on a master of public health degree, Dr. Rawl developed an interest in preventative medicine. Gastroenterology was a natural fit as it offers the opportunity to prevent one of the most common forms of cancer. Dr. Rawl feels there is nothing more satisfying than removing a high-risk polyp during a colonoscopy that would have eventually progressed to cancer. She also enjoys the clinical and procedural challenges that are unique to gastroenterology, particularly in the management of inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Rawl lives in Charlotte with her husband, their two children, and two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
