WSOC-TV 9 Food Drive donates nearly 27,000 pounds of canned food with Charlotte Gastro support

Charlotte, NC – Nearly 27,000 pounds of food were donated by community members for the Channel 9 Food Drive Wednesday.

Charlotte Gastro staff members were present at special drop-off day at the WSOC-TV studio, Wednesday June 15 with a tent, table, and gifts. Staff greeted the community, thanked them for their donations, and helped with the drop-off process.

WSOC-TV and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina have partnered to help provide meals for thousands of people in need.

The will supply over 18,000 individual meals for the community.

Wednesday’s 9 Food Drive was the most successful collection day in the history of the 9 Food Drive.

In partnership with Promising Pages, Channel 9 collects new and gently used children and teen books that are distributed to area children and teens through Promising Pages innovative programs without the need to check out and return the book.

We are encouraging everyone to donate gently used books to WSOC-TV book donation centers.

For the past 16 years, WSOC-TV and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina have partnered to end area hunger through the 9 Food Drive.

You can help by donating canned or nonperishable food items now at any Arby’s, Ashley HomeStore or E.R. Services. A complete list of donation locations is listed on 9 Family Focus Website.

Because the food bank supplies food and essential grocery items to hundreds of agencies, a monetary donation helps all of these organizations. For every $1 the food bank receives, it distributes 7 pounds of food. You can donate now by visiting the 9 Family Focus website.
